Jesus is betrayed by Judas and arrested
“Friend, do what you came to do.” Matthew 26:50
Nothing stings quite like betrayal. Yet, it can take many shapes and forms. Sometimes with stinging intent, other times unwitting. In Jesus story, perhaps even more gouging than Judas’ silver kiss is the sad ending of this scene in his journey to the cross. “Then all the disciples deserted him and fled.” (Matthew 26:56).
If you are able, think through what you have experienced as betrayal in your life. Lean into the comfort and strength that Jesus can give you as you ponder his experience. He does understand. He does know. What does it look like for you to draw healthy boundaries in those relationships and find a way to move on? Jesus “releases” Judas in more ways than one with His statement here. Where do you need to let go today?
